Minas Gerais

Minas Gerais isn’t widely known to gringos, probably because it doesn’t have a coastline. But this state in the interior does have lovely mountains, great food, and many well-preserved colonial towns. It also produces lots of cachaça, which is a kick-butt liquor distilled from sugar cane. The capital, Belo Horizonte (Beautiful Horizon), is becoming a popular place with gringos, many of whom teach English to university students.
